Operator

Find and manage conversations

Every request you send to Operator starts a conversation. This page shows you how to find a conversation, carry it on, and archive, restore or delete it.

Operator gives each conversation a title from what you asked. You cannot rename a conversation.

Open a conversation from the sidebar

Your latest conversations are listed under Conversations in the sidebar.

Enlarge screenshot: The Conversations section of the sidebar: an Inbox with two unread conversations, a Recent list of five conversations, and an Archived link at the end
  • Inbox lists conversations where Operator has replied since you last opened them. A dot marks each one. Opening a conversation moves it to Recent.
  • Recent lists your other latest conversations.
  • Archived shows when you have archived at least one conversation. Select it to see your archived conversations.

A spinning circle next to a conversation means Operator is still working on it. A clock means Operator has a follow-up scheduled in it.

Select a conversation to open it.

Find a conversation on the Conversations page

  1. Select Conversations in the sidebar. The Conversations page opens.

Enlarge screenshot: The Conversations page, with the Active, Archived and All tabs, a search box and a list of seven conversations
  2. Select a tab:

    • Active: conversations you have not archived. This tab opens first.
    • Archived: conversations you have archived.
    • All: both.
  3. To filter the list, enter part of a conversation's title in Search by conversation name. The search matches titles only, not what was said in the conversation.

  4. Select a conversation to open it.

Each row shows when the conversation was last updated. A dot marks a conversation with a reply you have not read.

To reload the list, select Refresh.

To start a new conversation from this page, select New.

Carry on a conversation

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Enter your next request in the Reply... box at the bottom. You can attach files here too, the same way as on the home page.
  3. Press Enter to send it.

While Operator is replying, you can select the square Stop generation button to stop it.

To go back to the Conversations page, select the back arrow next to the conversation's title.

Archive a conversation

Archive a conversation to take it out of your Active list without losing it.

  1. Point to the conversation in the sidebar, or find it on the Conversations page.

  2. Select Actions (the three dots) at the end of its row. You can also right-click the row.

Enlarge screenshot: The Actions menu open on a conversation, showing Archive and Delete
  3. Select Archive.

The conversation moves to the Archived tab. If Operator was still replying, Alcova stops the reply first.

You can still open and read an archived conversation, but you cannot reply in it. In place of the reply box, it shows a notice with an Unarchive button.

Restore an archived conversation

  1. On the Conversations page, select Archived.

  2. Select Actions at the end of the conversation's row.

Enlarge screenshot: The Archived tab with the Actions menu open on a conversation, showing Unarchive and Delete
  3. Select Unarchive.

The conversation moves back to the Active tab, and you can reply in it again.

If the conversation is open, you can also select Unarchive in the notice at the bottom of the conversation.

Delete a conversation

Deleting a conversation removes it for good. You cannot undo it.

  1. Select Actions at the end of the conversation's row, in the sidebar or on the Conversations page.

  2. Select Delete. A confirmation opens.

Enlarge screenshot: The Delete conversation? confirmation, saying the conversation will be permanently deleted and that this action cannot be undone
  3. Select Delete to confirm, or Cancel to keep the conversation.

If the conversation you delete is open, Alcova takes you to the Operator home page.

Check or cancel a scheduled follow-up

When Operator has scheduled a follow-up in a conversation, the row shows Scheduled on the Conversations page, or a clock in the sidebar.

  1. Point to Scheduled, or to the clock. Scheduled follow-ups opens, with what Operator will do and when.

Enlarge screenshot: The Scheduled follow-ups card for a conversation, showing "Check whether the Bianchi rebalance trades have settled" on 22 Oct at 9:00 am, with a Cancel button
  2. To stop a follow-up, select Cancel next to it.

Find conversations about a meeting

When a conversation is about a meeting, for example because you asked Operator from the meeting's page, the meeting page lists it under Conversations. Select a conversation there to open it. See Meetings.

If something goes wrong

  • Can't archive while the assistant is responding: wait for Operator to finish its reply, then try again.
  • Failed to archive conversation, Failed to unarchive conversation or Failed to delete conversation: the conversation stays as it was. Try again.
  • Failed to cancel scheduled action: the follow-up is still scheduled. Try again.
